Q1: What causes poverty in developing countries?

A1: There are a number of underlying factors that contribute to poverty in developing countries. These include lack of access to quality education, limited job opportunities and low wages, unavailability of basic healthcare and welfare services, poor infrastructure, uneven distribution of resources and wealth, weak governance and corruption, and civil conflict. All of these factors create a climate in which poverty can thrive, trapping individuals and families in a cycle of deprivation and poverty.

Question: Over the past few decades, poverty has become a growing problem in many countries. What causes this, and what are some solutions?

Answer: Poverty has become a major issue of global concern in recent years due to a number of factors. The primary cause of poverty is income inequality, which is when income and resources are unequally shared among individuals in a society. This can be caused by a lack of education and job opportunities, unequal access to resources, and a lack of social capital such as a supportive network of family and friends.

Various solutions can be used to address this problem, the most effective of which would be to pursue policies that promote equality and inclusivity in a society, such as affordable housing and quality education for all. Additionally, government initiatives and social programs that focus on providing assistance to low-income individuals and families can help alleviate poverty. Other solutions include implementing policies to protect workers’ rights, providing job training and skills development programs, and investing in infrastructure that can raise productivity and create jobs. Finally, charitable and volunteer organizations have been proven to have a positive impact on communities suffering from poverty. By working together, governments, communities, and individuals can all help to reduce poverty and create a brighter future for all.

IELTS model essay topic Poverty Sample 3:

What causes poverty and what are the effects of it?

Poverty is a global phenomenon that is caused by a wide range of underlying factors such as racial and gender discrimination, lack of education and job opportunities, global inequality, environmental degradation, conflicts, predatory lending, and illness or disability. Poorly developed economic and political structures in certain countries can also contribute to poverty.

The effects of poverty can be devastating. People living in poverty tend to experience lack of access to basic needs such as water, food, shelter, healthcare, and education. These conditions then lead to further health, physical and mental problems, as well as making it difficult for individuals to break out of the poverty cycle. Poverty can have an impact on social development, too, especially amongst vulnerable people such as single parent families, elderly, and adolescents. It also has a large impact on environmental sustainability, with some people living in poverty resorting to unsustainable livelihoods, such as depleting forests for firewood and fuel, or over-exploiting natural resources.
