I agree that allocating certain areas of city centers only for people who have a low income can be beneficial in helping to reduce poverty in urban areas. Allocating spaces specifically for low-income housing provides advantages both for the people who benefit from this housing, as well as for the city as a whole.
For the people who benefit from low-income housing, it brings them closer to the services and opportunities that city life can provide. Low-income people are often isolated from these services due to cost-prohibitive transportation and other expenses associated with living elsewhere. By living in city centers, they become more connected to the economic opportunities and social networks that may help them out of poverty.
At the same time, this kind of housing also benefits cities overall. City centers are more economically vibrant when they are inhabited by a diverse population, including people with lower incomes. Low-income housing also helps revitalize parts of the city that may have fallen into disrepair. Moreover, it gives those who are able to escape poverty a more permanent place to live, which improves stability and contributes to the economy.
